The connection between Software and Design

Today these two topics are interconnected: software and design, it is quite difficult to be a good designer and not use technology at least for some parts of your work.

There are lots of software choices, some created by Adobe and some by other big companies, each has its own purpose and area of expertise. We tried to present a few here and specify where they fit best.

Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular software used in design work. Its usability goes from photo editing and compositing to digital painting, animation, and graphic design. Of course you can also find other software with similar functionalities like CorelDraw Graphics Suite and if you are a beginner you can also start with free options like Sketch or Inkscape that focuses on the SVG format as its primary file format  or vector orientated apps like Gravit Designer.

Adobe InDesign is specialized in layout and page design software for print and digital media, it helps designers put together original graphic designs with special typography for magazines or corporate complex presentations.

Adobe Illustrator is a vector-based graphics software, so it is appropriate if you need your design to scale down for mobile screens and up to billboard size. It can be used successfully for custom illustrations and intricate graphic design. 

Packaging Design

Autodesk 3ds Max is software for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, and visualization. You can create stunning game environments, design visualizations, and virtual reality. Can be successfully used for packaging design or architecture projects as well.

Autodesk Maya is 3D computer animation software with powerful modeling, rendering, simulation, texturing, and animation tools for artists, modelers, and animators. It is used a lot in the movie industry.

Whether you are a professional graphic designer or just want to dive into high-end design, it is really recommended to invest in mastering the software that will help you make your life easier and create original work.

Clients often need to see concrete results fast, meaning that the design phase should be as efficient as possible. Here the importance of a good software for design is most visible to make sure that a client's solution that is aesthetically pleasing and appropriate for that brand can be obtain in a reasonable timeline.

Client participation is critical for projects because we rely on frequent communication and collaboration with the client. The software chosen for design creation / enhancement is helpful, however human interaction remains the key of a successful project.
