Canned Vegetable Packaging

Tomatoes are a great fruit, so sweet and nutritious. They have many health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and cancer. They are also a great source of vitamin C, potassium, folate, and vitamin K. In spite of being rich in nutrients like vitamins, minerals, protein and fibers, tomatoes are low in calories so they are good for weight loss.

Is a Tomato a Fruit or a Vegetable? The daunting question actually has an answer—it's both! Tomatoes are fruits that are considered vegetables by nutritionists.

All cooks love them and we would like to use them during the entire year so the canned version has great advantages. Anyway research has shown that, eating cooked tomatoes is more nutritious than eating them raw.

For this canned vegetable packaging design we tried to put the spotlight on the star: THE TOMATO.

Did you know? All canned tomatoes are comprised of two tomato varieties: standard garden vine tomatoes and plum tomatoes. Whole tomatoes are better because they keep their shape and flavor in the can form, the diced tomatoes are good for foods like chili, they absorb all the spices when they cook. If you dream to an amazing soup, then maybe the puree can do the trick.

Italy is a big player on the canned tomatoes market, the climate and food passion are key ingredients for this success story. Since 1913, the Italian canning industry has gone from producing tomato paste to transforming all varieties of peeled, chopped, diced and crushed tomatoes in cans. The Italians have imposed a minimum standard so the product is always high quality compared to other countries.
